PH Elections 2022 Stickers
BACKGROUND
On May 2022, Filipinos were called to choose its new head of state as the National Election was held. As a moment of nationalism, Instagram released a set of Philippine election-themed stickers I designed for users to post about their experiences and encourage fellow Filipinos to go out and exercise their right.
THE CHALLENGE
How can you create digital election stickers that look unbiased and distinctively Filipino?
Truly local imagery
I proposed different themes relevant to the country and later on went with the Philippine Jeepney header, ethnic pattern/textiles, and a spin on the national flag. All of these carefully balance the three main colors of the country's flag—Blue, Yellow, and Red to avoid any inclinations to political sides.
The Filipino grit
The stickers were designed in an almost-comic, textured style to capture the grit and character of the Southeast Asian country. It’s modern and simplified, but still reminiscent of classic Filipino aesthetic.
Succinct and action-oriented
These images were weaved in with call-to-action statements such as 'Vote Now', 'Pilipinas Boto Tayo!' (Philippines, let's vote!), and 'Bumoto' (Vote) to incite action and encourage everyone by sharing their own experiences and proud moments.
