Rice Rocket x Gian Wong
Tara Sa’n Tayo?
BACKGROUND
Rice Rocket, a Filipino food chain, invited me to be part of their five featured artists to design their rice meal box. Each artist was assigned a Filipino archetype to base off on and develop, I got ‘The Traveler’.
THE CHALLENGE
How can you creatively illustrate the essence of the Filipino traveler and marry it with the product — takeaway food?

Where to next?
“Tara! Sa’n Tayo?” is a common Filipino expression to initiate the next travel destination or trip. It’s also the hero type I created and embedded on a vibrant vista of the Philippines. The design was intentionally created to be dynamic, as if everything is in the middle of all the action.

Truly Filipino symbols
The box aims to take the customer to a quick trip to the country as they refuel with Rice Rocket. I showed places such as Banaue Rice Terraces, Mayon Volcano, Bangui Windmills, Basco Lighthouse, and Tubbataha Reefs. As well as symbols like the Vinta boat, Philippine eagle, Pawikan, and Gumamela flower.
